In the past two years I've written 10 entries.  Not a very good track record.

I haven't visited LJ much in months - reading your entries or posting my own.  It seems weird to come here when I've been away so long.

I hope sometime in the future I'll have more time to spend here.

I often think of things that I'd like to say, in a format like this but never sit down to compose them.

I wonder if anyone remembers...

Our house is near some railroad tracks.  Train whistles to me sound very forlorn.  Maybe that's why I relate with them.

23rd-Nov-2008 01:32 am - Just in case anyone wondered...
I am still alive, I just haven't posted anything in a month of Sundays...wait, better make that 3 months of Sundays.  Just a quick and dirty rundown of important events that may or may not have been mentioned in previous entries:
  • I recently purchased a house.  My closing was on November 17th and we will be out of the apartment by the end of November.  Photos of the new abode are viewable on Facebook for anyone interested.  It was lived in by an 86 year old lady, so there is a lot of cosmetic updates required, but it has potential.
  • I started a new job in mid-September.  It's a permanent library position for the company I've been working for since May 2006 (albeit working for them in a number of different capacities).  This is a 100% telecommuting position so my dining room table is my office.  Telecommuting is great (but can have drawbacks).
  • I purchased a new vehicle in mid-August - a truck of all things.  Butch, eh?  Jason's mom was selling hers and it was in my budget.  My main reason for buying it was my extreme dislike for vehicle shopping.  It doesn't get great mileage, but it's nicer than my previous rust-bucket (which incidentally still ran great, but was cosmetically-challenged).  Since I work at home I don't drive much anyhow.
  • Prior to the library-gig, I was working at Lincoln Financial Group in one of their call centers.  I can thank Jason for this job -- at the time I started (back in April) he was working in the call center as well.  Neither of us are there anymore.  I can honestly say that working in a call center is not for me.
I think that's all the good stuff -- I am going to try and post more regularly from now on, just in case I have any readers left!

I think I have seen every Golden Girls episode I don't know how many times, but I can always keep watching them over and over and they are never any less funny.  There's no other show like that that I can think of.

Possibly the greatest show ever!
28th-Feb-2008 07:52 pm - overlooked Oscars ...
Jennifer Hudson
All I have to say is that Julianne Moore should have won an Oscar for Magnolia. Granted she wasn't even nominated, but she should have been.

In fact, she's probably one of the people most deserving of an Oscar that hasn't gotten one yet.

Any others?

On the other side of the coin -- who *has* won an Oscar that didn't really deserve to get one? Has anyone that you can think of won an award for some half-baked shitty performance?
